Faculty & Staff Wellness Hike: Sweetwater Creek

Faculty & Staff Wellness Hikes are beginner friendly three to five mile guided hikes conducted at a leisurely pace. These hikes are scheduled close to Atlanta so you can get up, get out, and get home before lunch on Saturday, and still have time for the rest of your busy weekend.

Sweetwater Creek State Park is only minutes from downtown Atlanta. Join us along wooded trails that follow a spirited stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War. Trails climb rocky bluffs to provide views of beautiful rapids below and wind through fields and forest. Enjoy unique flora and fauna in the area, including: ferns, amphibians, wild azaleas and reptiles. Optional: Join us for a stand-up paddle boarding lesson on Sweetwater Lake immediately following.

Faculty & Staff Wellness Hikes are beginner friendly three to five mile guided hikes conducted at a leisurely pace. These hikes are scheduled close to Atlanta so you can get up, get out, and get home before lunch on Saturday, and still have time for the rest of your busy weekend.

Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area spans hundreds of acres. The area is packed with beautiful landscapes, from breathtaking mountain summits, wildlife-filled grassy meadows, to glassy lakes and wide-open fields of rock and boulders. As long as it's not too hot, it's a cool place to visit. If the temperatures are too high, we'll head back to Sweetwater Creek, which is a great place no matter the weather.

Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk 5K

Join the Georgia Tech team in the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk 5K. This unique workplace-organized fitness initiative is designed to inspire fun, fitness and camaraderie among Atlantas corporate community. It is an office social, outside of the office that focuses on teambuilding and worksite health and fitness. More than 20,000 runners, walkers and joggers from over 600 Atlanta companies will participate in what has become the largest workplace-organized 5K corporate fitness event in the world.

Registration is now open to all full-time faculty and staff members of Georgia Tech. Part-time employees, family members, and friends may participate (not eligible for team awards). All levels of walkers and runners are welcome.
As part of the Georgia Tech team you will receive an event t-shirt and a Georgia Tech Team Dri-Fit shirt; register by August 1st to guarantee your size. Don't miss out on the event social after the 5K with food and beverage on the night of September 22, 2016. 

Departmental Challenge
Be sure to enter your Georgia Tech department in the departmental challenge. The department that has the most members participating in the corporate challenge will receive their name on the Georgia Tech Departmental Challenge plaque and on-site chair massages for their staff. This year, the challenge will be divided into two categories: Small Departments (fewer than 50 employees) and Large Departments (more than 50 employees). CRC Annual Ski Trip

After careful consideration, which included a scouting trip to other ski resorts in Colorado, the 2016 trip is heading to Copper Mountain, Colorado.  The mountain offers the perfect terrain for our group, which includes nice and easy greens and blues with a touch of challenge.  The rustic village is an intimate collection of stores and restaurants (indoor & outdoor)   Toss in a skating rink, tubing, and nearby Frisco/Silverthorne, participants will have a plethora of options both on the mountain and after the mountain closes.
