A Freshman Outdoor Orientation Experience

What Is Provided


Assistance with preparing for your trip
Once your deposit is received, we will provide you with extensive preparation guidelines.

Pick up in Anchorage on the designated meeting day
We will pick you up at the airport in Anchorage on Day 1. All expenses that you incur prior to the pick-up time, including accommodation in Anchorage, are your responsibility.

Local transportation
From the time we pick you up until the end of the trip and we drop you off back at the airport, all program related transportation costs are included. This include travel by trains, vans, and boats.

Food
With specified exceptions, all meals and snacks are provided for the duration of the trip. However, most people like to bring some money for snacks and special treats and a few meals out.

Training
We'll teach you what you need to know for all the activities throughout your stay with us. There are no additional costs.

Professional Guides, leaders, instructors
We provide qualified leaders/guides for all activities.

Equipment
We provide all group camping gear, such as tents and cooking equipment, boats and any other technical gear required for the activities (such as ice axes and crampons.) We provide emergency and safety equipment and any other specialized, non-personal equipment needed.

Accommodation
Each night is spent in a 2 person tent with one tent-mate of the same sex. We provide the tents.

Health & medical needs
We will be equipped with an extensive group medical kit and at least one guide is trained in Wildness First Responder first aid. Additionally, one of our guides is an EMT.




What Is Not Provided


Before the trip
Your transportation to and from Anchorage airport is not included, and arrangement of your travel is entirely your responsibility. We will provide you with a time window that you must arrive in. All expenses that you incur prior to the pick-up time window, including accommodation in Anchorage, are your responsibility.

Some Food
At times, you will have the opportunity to buy snacks or meals out at your own expense.

Equipment. Your personal gear including all clothing as specified in the supplied gear list such as proper footwear, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. Many of these items can be rented from us. The gear list will specify which items we can lend you.

Health & medical needs All medical expenses charged by other agencies or medical providers for evacuation or treatment are entirely the responsibility of the participant. All participants MUST have adequate insurance to cover these expenses.
