Tech Treks South East

Join your incoming Georgia Tech classmates this summer on a three-day Rock Climbing and Rafting Adventure with camping under star-filled skies. Challenge yourself on a high-adventure freshman orientation trip! Meet new friends including upper class mentors and staff. Be a part of this special adventurous group!

What to Expect

This tripped is jam packed with activities to help new students get to know each other including:

  • A day of rafting down the famed Ocoee River
  • Camping under the stars
  • Free time to hang out with new friends
  • Some sessions will include the GT Leadership Challenge Course 
     

 

Learning Expectations

Staff members and student guides will offer advice and information for success at Georgia Tech including: 

  • Effective student-professor interaction
  • Utilization of Tech services
  • Social strategies
  • Incentives for campus wide interactions

Students will also explore concepts surrounding:

  • Self confidence 
  • Self motivation
  • Critical thinking
  • Decision making 

 

 

There are 6 different sessions available for registration. You may register for any session, even if it is not the same session as your FASET session.
 

Session Descriptions

  • Sessions A and C - We will leave campus on Friday at 5 p. m. and will be returning to campus on Sunday at around 6 p. m. Please arrive at the CRC at 5 p. m. on Friday to load your bags and meet your fellow students. We will return to campus Sunday evening, around 6 p. m.  
  • Session B - We will leave campus on Saturday  at 9 a. m. and will be returning to campus on Sunday night. We will then complete the GT Leadership Challenge Course  at around 6 p. m. We will then camp out on campus at the Challenge Course and deliver you the FASET check in at 8 a. m. on Monday. If you are not attending FASET, then you will be free to go home after that. Please arrive at the CRC at 9 a. m. on Saturday to load your bags and meet your fellow students.  
  • Session D - We will leave campus on Friday at 5 p. m. and will be returning to campus on Sunday night. We will then complete the GT Leadership Challenge Course  at around 6 p. m. We will then camp out on campus at the Challenge Course and deliver you the FASET check in at 8 a. m. Monday. If you are not attending FASET, then you will be free to go home after that. Please arrive at the CRC at 5 p. m. on Friday to load your bags and meet your fellow students.  
  • Session E - We will leave campus on a Friday at 9 a. m. and will be returning to campus on Saturday at around 6 p. m. Please arrive at the CRC at 5 p. m. on Friday to load your bags and meet your fellow students. We will return to campus Saturday evening around 6 p. m.
  • Session F - We will leave campus on a Wednesday at 5 p. m. and will be returning to campus on Friday at around 6 p. m. Please arrive at the CRC at 5 p. m. on Wednesday to load your bags and meet your fellow students. We will return to campus Friday evening around 6 p. m.

  • Session A (After FASET 1):   July 7 (Friday), 5 p. m.  – July 9 (Sunday), 6 p. m.  
  • Session B (Before FASET 2):   July 15 (Saturday), 9 a. m.  – July 17 (Monday), 8 a. m. 
  • Session C (After FASET 3):   July 21 (Friday), 5 p. m.  – July 23 (Sunday), 6 p. m.  
  • Session D (After FASET 4 and before FASET 5):   July 28 (Friday), 5 p. m.  – July 31 (Monday), 8 a.m.   
  • Session E (Before FASET 6):   August 11 (Friday), 9 a. m. –August 16 (Wednesday), 5 p. m. – August 18 (Friday), 6 p. m.
